About the Paracord Knife

Design and in-hand feel

The Paracord is a single fixed blade, not a folder, so there is no deploy animation that opens or rotates the knife the way the Butterfly, Falchion or Navaja do. The model is a compact drop-point survival blade with serration-style jimping on the spine and a corded handle that ends in a lanyard loop. The inspect animation is a low-key flip where the character tosses and re-grips the knife. On screen it is one of the smaller, more subdued knife silhouettes, which is part of why it commands less of a premium than the large, instantly recognisable knives. It shares its Shattered Web release with the Survival, Nomad and Skeleton knives but is mechanically and visually distinct from all three.

Finishes and patterns it carries

The Paracord uses the shared knife finish set, so its paints behave exactly like they do on other knives. Headline finishes include Fade (a strong percentage-fade gradient prized near full fade), Doppler and Gamma Doppler (with the Ruby/Sapphire/Black Pearl/Emerald phase lottery, plus the green phases on Gamma), Marble Fade (chase the 'Fire & Ice' arrangement), Tiger Tooth, Damascus Steel, Ultraviolet, Rust Coat, Crimson Web (where tight, centred webs add value), Slaughter, Blue Steel and Case Hardened (where high blue-coverage seeds — the 'blue gem' patterns — sell at a premium over a plain Case Hardened). At the bottom sit the camo and solid finishes: Safari Mesh, Boreal Forest, Forest DDPAT, Urban Masked, Night Stripe, Scorched and Stained.

Vanilla and value tiers

The plain, no-finish 'Vanilla' Paracord Knife shows the bare model with its paracord wrap and raw blade, has no float value and trades as its own tier. The cheapest way into a Paracord overall is a worn camo or solid finish (Safari Mesh, Boreal Forest, Night Stripe, Scorched, Stained) in Field-Tested or Battle-Scarred. From there value climbs through Blue Steel and Stained into the patina and gradient paints, with Fade, Marble Fade, the better Doppler phases and high-coverage Case Hardened seeds at the top. Across nearly every finish the Paracord prices well below the same paint on a Karambit, M9 Bayonet or Butterfly.

How it sits versus other knives

The Paracord is one of the four Shattered Web knives, and along with the Survival Knife it is usually among the most affordable knife models you can buy — newer, less iconic blades draw less demand than the classic Bayonet, Karambit, M9 and Butterfly. That makes it a strong value pick: you get a true ★ knife with a flashy finish for far less outlay. The trade-off is presence — its modest size and plain flip animation give it less table appeal than a spinning Butterfly or the curved Karambit, so resale demand is thinner than the marquee models.

How to get a Paracord Knife

Paracord Knives are rare special items in the standard knife drop pool, so they can come from opening weapon cases that carry the knife group (the rare item is pulled at roughly the standard ~0.26% case-knife chance, then the specific knife and finish are rolled). For a specific finish, float or pattern it is almost always cheaper and more reliable to buy directly from the Steam Community Market or a trading platform rather than unboxing. As with all ★ knives, you can preview the exact wear and pattern via the in-game inspect link before buying.

Frequently asked questions

When was the Paracord Knife added?
It was introduced on 18 November 2019 in Operation Shattered Web, together with the Survival Knife, Nomad Knife and Skeleton Knife.
Is the Paracord Knife one of the cheapest knives in CS2?
Yes. As a newer, less iconic model it sits at the budget end of the knife market and is regularly one of the most affordable knife models, which makes it a popular first ★ knife.
What finishes does the Paracord Knife come in?
It uses the standard knife finish set: Fade, Doppler, Gamma Doppler, Marble Fade, Tiger Tooth, Damascus Steel, Ultraviolet, Rust Coat, Case Hardened, Crimson Web, Slaughter, Blue Steel, Stained, plus camo/solid paints like Safari Mesh, Boreal Forest, Forest DDPAT, Urban Masked, Night Stripe and Scorched.
What is a Vanilla Paracord Knife?
Vanilla is the plain, unpainted version showing the bare model and paracord handle. It has no float value and trades as its own price tier, typically above the cheapest camo finishes.
Does the Paracord Knife have a deploy spin?
No. It is a fixed blade, so it has no opening animation. The inspect is a simple flip-and-catch, unlike folders such as the Butterfly or Falchion.
Is it cheaper to unbox or buy a Paracord Knife?
Buying is almost always cheaper and more predictable. Unboxing relies on the rare ~0.26% knife pull and then rolling this specific model and finish, whereas the market lets you pick the exact finish, float and pattern.
