Steam Maintenance Schedule
Valve performs weekly scheduled maintenance on Steam servers on Tuesday evenings US time. Maintenance usually starts around 00:00 UTC on Wednesday and lasts 15-30 minutes. During this time, the store, community, and game servers may be temporarily unavailable.
During major sales events (Summer, Winter, Autumn) or large game updates, server load can increase significantly, leading to temporary slowdowns or interruptions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Steam down?
Steam can go down for several reasons: scheduled weekly maintenance (Tuesday evenings US time, around 00:00 UTC Wednesday), unexpected server issues, DDoS attacks, or overload during major sales and popular game launches.
How long do Steam outages last?
Most outages last between 5-30 minutes. Scheduled maintenance takes about 15-30 minutes. Major outages are rare but can last up to several hours.

Every Tuesday evening US time, usually around 00:00 UTC on Wednesday. This is a weekly server maintenance performed by Valve.
What can I do when Steam is down?
Switch to Steam offline mode for single-player games. Check if your internet connection is the issue — try other websites. If the problem is on Steam's side, you just need to wait — things usually come back within minutes.
Is it Steam or my internet?
If other websites work fine but Steam doesn't — the issue is likely on Steam's side. If nothing loads, try restarting your router. You can also use mobile data as a test.
How do I check individual Steam service status?
Our detector checks each Steam service individually: Store, Community, Web API, Client, and Game Coordinator. A green indicator means the service is operational, yellow means degraded, and red means the service is down. For detailed regional info, use our Steam Server Status monitor.
